Summer 2013

This spring, the nominations committee was busy with handling nominations for both the Sulzman Award and AGU fellow nominations. Many thanks to everyone involved, from those of you who nominated your outstanding colleagues to the committee who reviewed each and every submission. As the summer field season begins, it’s not too early to begin thinking about the 2013 Fall Meeting. The abstract deadline is 6 August this year.

This year our sec-on will be making the first presentation of the Sulzman Award for Excellence in Education and Mentoring to Dr. Heidi Steltzer, Fort Lewis College, Durango, Colo., at the Biogeosciences Section Luncheon, held at the 2013 AGU Fall Meeting in San Francisco. Dr. Steltzer’s outstanding creativity in teaching and her devotion to students are deserving of this honor.
