Biogeosciences Section The Biogeosciences Early Career Committee is a group of volunteers within the American Geophysical Union. Our main goal is to provide support to early career members of the AGU Biogeosciences Section by bringing attention to resources and funding opportunities, celebrating achievements of early career members and assisting with the diverse needs of early career members.
The AGU Biogeosciences Section Early Career Committee is excited to offer Caregiver Conference Support Grants for the Fall Meeting. The purpose of these grants is to support student and early career members affiliated with the Biogeosciences section who face challenges in attending the Fall Meeting (either in person or online) due to expenses directly related to their responsibilities as the primary caregiver for a child or other dependent.
First of the 2024 Town Hall series co-organized with the B-DEI Committee. Inspired by an article on Nature’s 2023 postdoc survey that focused on some of the challenges facing young researchers and their careers. This Town Hall featured four panelists, Emily Cararelli, Hillary Hartnet, Amanda Heidt, and Deni Murray, to make up a cross-career stage panel. They discussed some of the challenges of pursuing a career in the Earth Sciences as well as potential solutions and hopes for their future. A full recording of this Town Hall is available here.
