AGU Biogeosciences Events at the AGU25

Monday, 15 December

● Reeburgh Lecture
● Monday Biogeosciences Business Meeting and Award Ceremony
  • The Biogeosciences business meeting will be held directly following the Reeburgh lecture on Monday, in the La Nouvelle Ballroom of the New Orleans Convention Center, convening at 5:15 PM.
  • Please join us to make your voice heard, learn of new ways to participate, and recognize our award winners.
Tuesday, 16 December

● AGU Biogeosciences Mixer
  • Join us for the AGU sectional mixer! All sections will celebrate together this year during the Science Connects Us Mixer on Tuesday from 6:00 - 7:30 PM. Members of the Biogeosciences section should converge near our sign within the Earth Covering Neighborhood. Come get your special edition B section pin, play Biogeobingo and seek out new connections with biogeoscientists as well as the broader community.
Everyday

● BioGeoPod Lunch Meetups
  • The Annual Meeting can be overwhelming and sometimes you just want a place to land or a way to find people to have lunch with. We’ve booked Pods in the Exhibit Hall every day and encourage folks to come by, bring your lunch or an idea for a great lunch spot and make connections with fellow B section scientists. First time AGUers are especially encouraged to come by and we’d love to have our seasoned veterans commit to showing up to at least one during the week (please use the QR code below to let us know we can count on you for a session).
  • Monday Biogeopod: 12:15 - 1:15 PM, Hall B-1 (Connections Hall) Pod 7
  • Tuesday Biogeopod: 2:15 - 1:15 PM, Hall B-1 (Connections Hall) Pod 7
  • Wednesday Biogeopod: 12:15 - 1:15 PM, Hall B-1 (Connections Hall) Pod 5
  • Thursday Biogeopod: 12:15 - 1:15 PM, Hall B-1 (Connections Hall) Pod 7

AGU B Section Scavenger Hunt

Your AGU Biogeosciences Section Executive Committee wants to help folks navigate AGU25. We’ve created this meeting scavenger hunt document to help you “Win the Meeting.” You can print out the pdf ahead of the meeting - or pick up a copy from us at Monday’s business meeting, Tuesday’s mixer or at any lunchtime BioGeoPod.

Introducing the Biogeobuddy Program!

As we prepare for AGU25, we want to make sure that first time attendees in the Biogeosciences section feel welcome to and supported in a sometimes overwhelming conference. To help ease any nerves, the Biogeosciences DEI committee is starting a pilot program to connect first-timers to more experienced AGU attendees. We are currently soliciting our members to sign up to serve as an experienced buddy and we will have a sign up form also available to first-time attendees. Since this is a pilot program, we are limiting the number of paired buddy groups to 10. Please review the “Know before you go: A best practices guide to increasing DEI consciousness in AGU25 attendees at all career stages” for additional information on how to make the meeting more inclusive.

To get a buddy, fill out the first-time attendee sign up form here
