Dear colleagues,
In a year marked by extreme weather events, water-related crises, and major advances in Earth observation and modeling, the role of precipitation science and its applications has never been more critical. As we prepare for the next International Precipitation Conference, we want to share an important update.
Due to evolving budgetary uncertainties in some countries, which are currently affecting the travel planning of many of our pre-registered and potential participants, we have made the decision to reschedule IPC15 to ensure broader participation that defines the IPC community.
We are pleased to announce the new date and final date for IPC15:
June 15–17, 2026, in Coimbra, Portugal.
This change reflects our commitment to enabling the fullest possible engagement from researchers, practitioners, and institutions around the world. We remain firmly dedicated to delivering a high-impact, collaborative, and forward-looking event.
Under the theme "Harnessing the Data Revolution for Precipitation Estimation and Prediction Across Scales and Regimes," IPC15 will focus on:
1) Bridging models and observations, including through novel AI methodologies.
2) Spatio-temporal variability from microphysics to synoptic-scale patterns.
3) Partnerships for societal impact in decision-making and risk management.
IPC15 will bring together scientists, practitioners, students, and policymakers for discussions, workshops, and interactive sessions that push the boundaries of precipitation science. Following the success of IPC14, we will continue fostering innovation and collaboration to advance both research and application.
Stay tuned for upcoming details and announcements on sessions, speakers, and registration.
