December 2025 features the paper published by Ryu et al. (2025): Evaluation of Precipitation Retrieval Performance from 13 Passive Microwave Radiometers Relative to Spaceborne Radar Estimate: A study using Global Satellite Mapping of Precipitation (GSMaP).
The Global Satellite Mapping of Precipitation (GSMaP) is one of the most widely used global multiple-satellite merged precipitation datasets. This study is the first to evaluate the precipitation retrieval performance from 13 passive microwave sensors used as input to GSMaP over both ocean and land. We identify several key factors affecting the performance of these 13 sensors, including channel availability, spatial resolution, snowfall retrieval scheme, and artificial precipitation estimation values.
