September 2025 features the paper published by Bogerd et al. (2024): Classifying Microwave Radiometer Observations over the Netherlands into Dry, Shallow, and Nonshallow Precipitation Using a Random Forest Model . The retrieval of light and/or shallow precipitation estimates from spaceborne microwave radiometer observations is challenging, especially over land. This study implemented a random forest (RF) model that confirmed the importance of high-frequency channels for spaceborne precipitation retrieval over land, while at the same time, the added value, when combining these observations with those retrieved from low-frequency channels, was demonstrated. ...

August 2025 features the paper published by Watters det al. (2025): A Diagnosis of Oceanic Precipitation in IMERG-GMI. IMERG V07B tends to overestimate precipitation by +50% over high-latitude ocean at instances of GMI overpasses, and underestimate precipitation by -41% over tropical ocean; this oceanic latitudinal trend largely traces back to GPROF-GMI V07.
