Ongoing Activities and Opportunities

The College of Fellows are working with various programs and departments within AGU to provide opportunities for AGU Fellows to apply the knowledge and skills they have developed throughout their careers to directly work on projects or programs that provide valuable support and benefits to the Earth and Space Science community.

Here is a list of current volunteer opportunities where Fellows can get involved:

  • Connect with AGU College of Fellows

As we navigate through these difficult times, the AGU College of Fellows believe that their mission to provide expert advice and support the professional development of scientists has never been more important. The College of Fellows community is here to help graduate students, post-docs and early career scientists stay connected and energized about their education, research and geoscience careers.

    • If you are a Fellow and would like to volunteer please add your contact information, position and affiliation, time zone and up to three suggested topics and we will add your information to the website.

  • Serve as a mentor by signing up for Mentoring365, a virtual mentoring program. The program was developed among Earth and space science organizations to facilitate an exchange of professional knowledge, expertise, skills, insights, and experiences through dialogue and collaborative learning. The program provides mentors and mentees with structured, relationship-building tools to develop and accomplish focused career goals. If you are interested in serving as a mentor, please visit the website at https://mentoring365.chronus.com/p/p1/about.
  • Submit a biographical article to AGU’s newest journal, Perspectives of Earth and Space Science. This journal was created as part of AGU’s Centennial celebration. The journal will capture the professional and personal stories of science, as related by AGU Fellows. If you are interested in submitting an article, please visit the website at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PerspectivesSubmissions. If you have questions about the journal, please send email to RTownsend@agu.org.
  • Submit an article to AGU Advances, a cross-disciplinary, gold open access journal publishing full length, high impact research articles. The editors of this new journal are members of the College of Fellows. If you are interested in submitting an article, please visit the website at http://advances-submit.agu.org/cgi-bin/main.plex. If you have questions about the journal, please send email to advances@agu.org.
  • AGU’s Thriving Earth Exchange is inviting members of College of Fellows to serve as leaders in community science and contribute their ideas and experience to the development and expansion of this new opportunity, and all aspects of Thriving Earth Exchange.
