The DEI and Early Career committees are hosting a virtual town hall series to support early career scientists and provide space for a dialog between our membership and leadership in the field. The first of these events “Is This Sustainable? The State and Future of Earth Science Careers” will be a cross-career stage panel discussion about folks’ views on whether the Earth Sciences will provide viable career paths.
 
 
 
 
 
Help shape the AGU Fall Meeting by joining the Biogeosciences Section Planning Committee!

The AGU Fall Meeting Planning Committee, Biogeoscences Section is seeking a dedicated individual to join the committee. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping one of the most influential gatherings in the geosciences community. We are looking for someone who is deeply committed to advancing the field of biogeosciences and willing to contribute their time and expertise to the success of our annual meeting.

Basic Expectations:
  1. Research Excellence: Candidates should be actively conducting research within the broad disciplines of biogeosciences. We welcome diverse perspectives and innovative approaches to understanding the biological, ecological, and geological processes of the Earth.
  2. Passion for Service: A genuine enthusiasm for serving the research community is crucial. We value members who are eager to facilitate scientific exchange and collaboration.
  3. Commitment to Volunteer Work: The role requires dedication to various tasks, including reviewing session proposals, coordinating the arrangement of session locations and time slots, and handling other preparatory work leading up to the annual meeting.
  4. Availability for In-Person Meeting: Candidates are expected to travel to Washington D.C. for approximately 3 days in early September to attend the critical Fall Meeting planning committee meeting. This gathering is essential for finalizing the meeting's arrangements and ensuring a successful and impactful conference.

Comment on AGU position statements on climate change, science communication and data

AGU members have until 30 April to comment on revisions to three AGU position statements addressing climate change, science communication and data, respectively. Position statements are what enable AGU to provide scientific expertise on significant policy issues.
