October 7-8, 2022 (8 am Friday-5 pm Saturday)
Boulder, Colorado (GSA 2022 Annual Meeting is in Denver October 9-12)
Short course participants will learn practical approaches for integrating structure from motion (SfM) photogrammetry and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) surveying (a.k.a. GPS) into undergraduate field courses, allowing them to generate georeferenced point clouds of high-resolution topographic data. Methods are appropriate for both summer field camps and academic-year courses with field components. The short course will include hands-on time with Emlid ReachRS2 instruments, as well as support for data processing and instructional implementation planning.
Travel support stipends of $340** plus 2 nights hotel accommodations are available.
Space limited, apply now (Deadline September 6, rolling admissions underway)
Audience
This short course is intended for instructors whose courses include at least some field teaching components. Summer field camp and academic-year courses with field components both qualify. Later-stage graduate students with teaching responsibility are also eligible.
Participants of 2016-18 UNAVCO/GETSI field short courses are also welcome. (The greatest overlap would be with the 2017 short course; let me know if you have questions.)
Future equipment use
GETSI has several teaching loan kits of 5 Emlid receivers (1 based and 4 rovers) and related supplies that are available to the field teaching community. Loans are free except for the cost of shipping. For more information, see our
Equipment page.
