K-12 Working Group Monthly Tip: Using AI in the Classroom to Teach Geoscience

AGU's Eos magazine is an excellent resource for up-to-date geoscience topics and information about Earth and space science. However, this information is often not accessible to second-language English learners and younger students. To improve information accessibility, the K-12 Working Group suggests using AI to design curricula that is personalized for students.

  • Tip: Take a relevant Eos article and ask any number of different AI tools to summarize this article for a given reading or grade level. From there, these summaries can be used to design a curriculum module that meets the needs of the students.

Recommended AI prompts for this article might be:
  • Simplify this article for Grade 3 students
  • Build an associated vocabulary/spelling list for this article for Grade 3 students
  • Design a Choice Board option for students to demonstrate understanding using the Universal Design for Learning framework.
Stay posted for a new tip next month! Join in the fun and provide an education technique that has worked well in your classroom.

Summer Online Workshop on Water Resources Management for Undergraduate Students
