Elijah Johnson is an NSF Graduate Research Fellow and a geoscience education researcher investigating the role of spatial thinking in STEM, and how geosciences can promote and improve spatial learning across disciplines. His research involves using pedagogical tools, including the augmented-reality sandbox and 3D geologic block models, to enhance the learning environment of introductory geoscience classrooms. He is also involved in geospatial research investigating the various ecosystem services that greenspaces provide and locating ideal locations in southeastern cities for greenspaces. Elijah is also an Adjunct Instructor at Auburn University at Montgomery teaching Introduction to Earth Science to undergraduates.
