Field Trip

Friday is an optional field trip to Glacier National Park. An itinerary for the day is below, weather permitting. Weather in Glacier National Park in October can be highly variable. The average high temperatures are in the 50s. Average low temperatures are in the 30s.

Itinerary
9:00 AM: Group leaves FLBS on a shuttle bus traveling to Glacier National Park
10:00 AM - 10:30 AM: Arrive at Glacier National Park
10:30 AM: Park Ranger presentation
11:00 AM: Group boards the Red Bus for a trip up Going-to-the-Sun Road to Logan Pass for lunch, hiking, etc.
3:00 PM: Back down the Going-to-the-Sun Road
4:30 PM: Group boards shuttle for return trip to FLBS
6:00 PM: Arrive at FLBS for dinner

Please consider the potential variation in temperature when you pack. Logan Pass is over 6,600 feet above sea level. You should bring:

  • Sturdy shoes (boots are better)
  • Dress in layers as temperatures range from highs in the 50s to lows in the 30s
  • Hat that shields your face, ears and neck
  • Gloves
  • Backpack and water bottle
  • Sunscreen
