Hello EPSP Section Members,
Are you interested in helping to strengthen and build the EPSP community? Are you interested in helping EPSP thrive and grow in a changing societal landscape? We're looking for a few people who want to be involved in AGU and EPSP in a bigger way. We are entering the election season for leadership positions at AGU, including the leadership of EPSP section. In order to broaden the pool of potential candidates beyond the circles of current leadership, we invite members of our community to express interest in running for President-Elect of the section. Read on if this interests you.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Provide vision, engagement, and connection opportunities for EPSP section members.
- Oversee and recruit volunteers on section committees (Program Committee, Awards Committee, Student Committee, EPSP Connects, Student Travel & Caregiver Awards, OSPA Committee, Canvassing, etc).
- Serve on the AGU Council, which entails two in-person meetings and quarterly virtual meetings with AGU staff and leadership from all sections at AGU.
Not sure if you are ready to serve in leadership for EPSP? These are useful traits:
- Have a strong desire to serve the EPSP community
- Have good executive skills to accomplish tasks on time and with clear communication
- Have an established network that spans multiple aspects of the section, and be interested in expanding your connections
- Be willing to work within AGU to support the EPSP community
- Have the ability to dedicate time to volunteer service in the field
Things to know:
- Six year commitment: 2 years as president elect; 2 years as president; 2 years as past president.
- Elections will be held in September; new President-Elect attends AGU26 Council meeting in December and begins service Jan 1.
- Ineligible to be nominated for AGU awards or recognition during these 6 years.
- This is a volunteer position. AGU provides some limited travel support.
It's truly inspiring to spend time with other section leaders and staff from across AGU. We are happy to talk with you about our experiences if you have questions. If you want to be considered, please send a copy of your CV and a paragraph describing your motivations to us. We ask for expressions of interest by March 23.
Thanks,
Suzanne Anderson
