    Dear Colleagues,

Please consider submitting your AGU25 abstracts to:

GC019 - Advancing Soil Moisture Research in the Context of Global Environmental Change

    Submission link:

    https://agu.confex.com/agu/agu25/prelim.cgi/Session/248443

    Submission Deadline:

    30 July (Wed) 23:59 EDT/03:59 UTC

    Invited Presenters:

    Benjamin Cook (https://www.drbenjamincook.net/)

    Dara Entekhabi (https://cee.mit.edu/people_individual/dara-entekhabi/)

    Session Description:

At the nexus of hydrology, atmospheric dynamics, and ecology, soil moisture (SM) is an essential variable within Earth system science. The RUBISCO Soil Moisture Working Group (SMWG) invites contributions for this session that explore the multifaceted role of SM in the context of global environmental change. We especially welcome submissions showcasing novel methodologies and techniques to improve SM quantification across scales. We also seek insights that apply emerging SM datasets to benchmark key ecohydrological and biogeochemical cycles in models, thereby enhancing our ability to predict long-term Earth system dynamics. Contributors are also encouraged to present studies that advances the understanding of SM feedbacks on natural hazards and ecosystem functioning. This session aims to deepen our shared understanding and foster a vibrant global dialogue on the critical role of SM in supporting monitoring, Earth system modeling, and planning efforts in the decades ahead.

We would be grateful if you could share this information with any colleagues who might be interested.

    Best regards,

Jiafu Mao, Yaoping Wang, and Forrest Hoffman
