Applications are due October 15 th (11.59pm EST) and results will be announced in late October. Caregiver Grant Call for #AGU23 Meeting (in-person or virtually) This award is open to all virtual and in-person attendees with caregiving responsibilities. Eligible expenses include but are not limited to, travel for partners/children/caregivers, special housing accommodations, dependent care including tutoring, daycare, etc. (at the meeting location or the home location) that arises due to the member’s absence. Dear Tectonophysics community, Dr. Robert S. Yeats, Oregon State University Professor Emeritus of Geology, died on Sunday December 5, 2021. Bob was an extraordinary geologist who made major contributions to tectonophysics through his research and teaching. Andrew Meigs, Professor at Oregon State University, provided the summary of Bob's outstanding career that follows. Born in 1931 in Florida, he received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and Master’s and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Washington. Greg Hirth is the 2017 Birch Lecturer Greg Hirth (Brown University) will be the 2017 Birch Lecturer, speaking on “ Lithospheric Strength and Stress State: Persistent Challenges and New Directions in Geodynamics ”. The lecture will take place on Wednesday, December 13, at 4 pm in New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, La Nouvelle C. The Birch Lecture is given annually at the Fall Meeting to highlight cutting-edge research in Tectonophysics.
