GeoHealth Newsletters: March 2019

March 2019

Fall Meeting 2018 was a highly successful debut for GeoHealth as an independent section. There were more than 300 abstracts submitted to GeoHealth sessions, spread across 13 oral sessions and 21 poster sessions, along with a GeoHealth-led Union session and a GeoHealth tutorial. This increased focus on GeoHealth helped to catalyze our growing network of transdisciplinary scientists, as long-term AGU members made connections with first-time attendees attracted by the evolving, convergent theme of GeoHealth. The business meeting and reception provided an opportunity to forge new acquaintances, meet the leadership team, and brainstorm about future directions. As a result, there is considerable excitement for continuing the growth of the GeoHealth section in 2019. Major goals include continuing to expand section membership; planning for another successful Fall Meeting; and developing effective strategies, activities, and communications to enhance the broader impacts of our science.
