Atmospheric and Space Electricity

We foster the science of the Earth’s electrically charged atmosphere and space environment within AGU, including lightning and many related phenomena. We build interdisciplinary interactions with atmospheric and space scientists and educate AGU members and the broader public. Our work attracts plasma physicists, space scientists, data scientists, astrophysicists, atmospheric scientists, and engineers. Our community builds advanced scientific instruments capable of high speed, high precision, high sensitivity measurements on the ground and in space, builds high-performance computing models to simulate our electrical environment, and employs advanced data science and machine learning to analyze and mine the vast and growing datasets we collect.
