    Dear Colleagues,

We would like to invite you to submit abstracts to the AGU Fall Meeting 2021 session B061. Remote Sensing for Soil Health

    https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm21/prelim.cgi/Session/124245

Session Description: Traditionally, remote sensing of soils has been limited to mapping abiotic properties (e.g. moisture, carbon content, salinity, and mineralogy) and fails to address spatial patterns of soil biology at scales relevant to management and modeling. New and established remote sensing methods (e.g. hyperspectral data, UAS, finer spatial and temporal resolutions, advances in ecological informatics, machine learning approaches, and data networks) have the potential to help establish the relationships between aboveground spatial and spectral patterns and belowground soil health and functionality. Although we may not be able to directly sense soil health, we can remotely sense many variables that have direct and indirect impacts on soil health including: plant community dynamics, climate patterns, soil moisture, and land use trends. We invite submissions from researchers using novel and established methods to assess soil health from remote sensing platforms across spatial and temporal scales.

    Convenors:
    Martha Farella (Indiana University)
    Mallory Barnes (Indiana University)

Abstract submissions are due 4 August 23:59 EDT.
