We would like to invite applications to our session Advances in the acquisition and application of high-resolution bathymetry in shallow freshwater environments (EP002) at the AGU Fall Meeting (December 12 to 16, 2022)

The submission deadline is August 3, 2022.

    Session Abstract:

While high-resolution, high-fidelity models of the exposed beds, banks and floodplains of rivers and lakes are now ubiquitous, the acquisition of comparable 3D data from shallow, subaqueous environments remains a continuing challenge.  Recent advances in sensors, platforms and algorithms however, present new opportunities to address this critical data gap and enable the development of seamless topo-bathy data models.  An array of emerging technologies offer potential across differing spatial scales, from small-form multibeam sonar to low-altitude shortwave lidar and multimedia photogrammetry, through to satellite laser altimetry.  Such data have the potential to enhance the characterization of physical habitat, quantify morphodynamics and enhance hydrodynamic modelling.  In this session we welcome contributions that bring together current research that focuses on new approaches for bathymetric data capture, methods to quantify data quality/uncertainty and novel applications of high-resolution bathymetry in shallow water environments.
