AGU Fall Meeting Updates

The Fall Meeting is just around the corner and will be here before we know it. As stated on the Fall Meeting website, AGU is planning to have a safe and inclusive hybrid conference this December in New Orleans. AGU has announced that they expect that only fully vaccinated people will attend the Fall Meeting in person in New Orleans and we encourage are members to review the meeting’s COVID-19 protocols. Please check the meeting website frequently for updates on the hybrid status of the meeting and other logistics, including conference housing.  New this year, members are allowed to submit 2 first author abstracts (so long as the abstracts are in different sections), or in some cases 3 abstracts (see information here). This represents a tremendous opportunity for our Section members to present important work both in Science and Society sessions, as well as other sessions led by other AGU Sections.

The theme of this year’s meeting is Science is Society, representing a great opportunity to showcase the interdisciplinary work our section members are leading!  We are excited that there are 44 Science and Society led sessions, as well as dozens more cross-listed sessions, at this year’s meeting. Thank you to everyone that submitted a session proposal earlier this year.  It is clear there is a lot of interest in work related to the section.

Abstracts are due August 4.  Whether you are planning to attend in person or virtually remember to submit your abstracts for Science and Society sessions!
