AS is committed to increasing the number of nominations from our community for both Section Honors and Union Awards and Medals. We are especially driven to greatly increase nominations of underrepresented scientists. AS has thus formed a canvassing committee to help realize these goals. This committee will not write or review nominations; rather, its purpose is to: (1) identify worthy candidates, and (2) find people to nominate those worthy candidates. In so doing, we will increase the nominations of AS members for AGU awards, and also make progress in addressing demographic inequities. If you have suggestions of colleagues you feel are deserving of AGU recognition and should be brought to the attention of the AS canvassing committee, please email Jim Hurrell (
jhurrell@rams.colostate.edu) with that information by 1 December 2019. Of course, while preparing nominations requires significant time and effort, please consider nominating a worthy colleague yourself! Please visit the
